Pigment dyeing is not really "dyeing" in it's truest form because the pigments stick on the fabric with the help of binders.
Pigment dyeing is a process for coloring textiles which uses ground pigments, rather than a true dye.
Strictly speaking, it is not actually dyeing at all, since it only coats the outside of the material, rather than fully penetrating it like a dye would.
One of the primary advantages of pigment dyeing is its ability to adhere to a wide range of textiles, not just natural fabrics.
This is especially important with synthetics or blends, which often cannot be dyed with conventional dyes.
We know that pigment has no affinity to cotton fabric for this reason.
Pigment can be applied for natural as well as synthetic fibers and fastness properties are good as average.
Advantages of Pigment Dyeing:

2. The process chemicals are less toxic , environmentally friendly and least polluting.
Pigment dyes are useful to give a wash down casual look on leisurewear.
Pigment dye molecules are relatively large and easily filtered at water treatment plants and are therefore considered to be Eco-friendly.
They are also processed at generally lower temperatures than reactive dyes and the process time is shorter. These factors further contribute to their Eco-friendly status.
